What is it?
A Learner’s Permit is a legal document that allows the bearer to learn to drive. It is a restrictive licence, showing that its holder has not yet satisfied the requirements to obtain a full licence and must comply with certain strict conditions.
What are my restrictions?
A holder of a Learner’s Permit must comply with several conditions whilst learning to drive.
- The L-plates must be clearly displayed at the front and rear of the vehicle
- Must carry their Learner’s Permit at all times when driving
- Must be accompanied by a Qualified Supervising Driver (a person who has held a full licence for a minimum of 2 years without disqualification)
- Must not drive with any drug or alcohol concentration in their blood
- Must not exceed a speed of 100 km/h
